Thurman Dale Briggs - age: 90
(March 26, 1921 to December 02, 2011 ) Resident of De Kalb, Texas Visitation Information: There will be no visitation for Mr. Briggs. Obituary: Thurman “Buddy” Briggs, 90, was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour on the morning of Friday December 2, 2011. Buddy was born on March 26, 1921 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was married to Mattie Cox on November 15, 1945 in Clarksville, TX. Buddy retired from Red River Army Depot where he worked as a mechanic. Buddy was a Navy veteran of WWII. Buddy was preceded in death by two daughters, Serita Greene and Lori Beth Briggs. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mattie Briggs of New Boston, TX; four sons, Thomas Briggs and wife Faye of New Boston, TX, Jimmy Briggs of New Boston, TX, Johnny Briggs and wife DeLisa of DeKalb, TX; Keith Briggs and wife Connie of DeKalb, TX; six daughters, Mary Porter and husband Joe of Texarkana, TX, Martha Campbell and husband Jerry of New Boston, TX, Magdalene Johnson of New Boston, TX, Bunny Stewart and husband Don of New Boston, TX, Bobbie Sue Mitchell and husband Don of Cuba, MO, Shelia Oestmann and husband Mark of Texarkana, TX and 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at New Boston Cemetery, New Boston, TX with Presley Eddings officiating, under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. |
