Norris "Pop" Obenoskey - age: 68
(November 16, 1943 to February 10, 2012 ) Resident of Bassett, Texas Visitation Information: 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, February 12, 2012 Bates Family Funeral Home. Obituary: Norris “Pop” Obenoskey, of Bassett, Texas, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012, at his home. He was 68. “Pop” was born November 16, 1943, in Bassett, Texas, to Jodie and Viola Coleman Obenoskey. He was a Timber Worker at a Saw Mill and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed cutting horses, rodeos and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Milton, Chuck, Donnie and Joe Obenoskey; and a sister, Opal Green. He is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Glenn Obenoskey of Redwater, Texas, Michael and Amanda Obenoskey of Simms, Texas and Kibbie Obenoskey and his life partner, Glendon Ramirez of De Kalb, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Stacy Surratt of Redwater, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Fred DeRue of New Boston, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Jodie “Jeff” and Goldie Obenoskey of Bassett, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Caige Croley, Dillon and Deven Surratt, Bailey, Christopher, Brandon, Fallon, Collin, Audrey, and Jonathan Obenoskey, and Jaren Ramirez; 1 great granddaughter, Hanna Surratt; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 13, 2012, at Bates Family Funeral Home with Rev. John Ratliff and Rev. Charles Hillis officiating.
