Obituary:
Don Alexander passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at his home in New Boston, Texas. He was 69.

Don was born August 9, 1942, in Jerome, Arkansas, to William and Imogene Harness Alexander. On August 3, 1963, he was married to Wilma Jean Matthias, in Atchison, Kansas. He was a former Publisher of Bowie County Citizens Tribune and De Kalb News, a member of the Texas Press Association and a member of New Boston Church of Christ. From 1976 - 1990, he served as Deacon at the Church of Christ in Dodge City, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Sherman Alexander, in 1971.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Alexander of New Boston, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Pam and Richard Light of Alpharetta, Georgia and Charman Alexander of Bozeman, Montana; a son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Tammy Alexander of Brooks, Alberta, Canada; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Melvin Isaac of Meade, Kansas, Sue and John Powell of Dodge City, Kansas and Bettye and Bill Young of Dodge City, Kansas; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Lorna Alexander of Cache, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Ashley Crenshaw, Andrew and Austin Alexander, Megan and Maci Light, and Jarek Montes; two great grandchildren, Dylan Crenshaw and Kenadie Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Bates Family Funeral Home with Bill Alexander, Joshua Sloan and Matthew Sloan officiating. Interment will follow at Ringwood Cemetery with Norman Hooten officiating.

Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Bates Family Funeral Home.

I was very sorry to hear of don's passing,i worked with him in the early 1960's at the Athchison daily globe,i remember don as a hard working honest ,faith believing,family man.he was truley one of the good guys.
